Long term and extensively (still) SBIR involved across the full range of mission agencies, in December 2021 it was announced that SA Photonics had been acquired CACI International already having tie-ins to other SBIR participant firms. The listed purchase price was $275,000,000. Formerly known as Saraswati Associates, SA Photonics was structured around development of advanced photonics systems, including photonics applications in laser communications, satellite sensors, fiber optic gyros, and vision systems for the defense, aerospace, aeronautical, terrestrial telecommunications, and semiconductor industries. The company offers products and technologies for coherent communications, head-mounted displays, high power microwave sensors, LADAR/LIDAR systems, fast steering mirror sense and control systems, compact fiber gyros, high power pulsed fiber lasers, and RF beamformers. The company also provides high bandwidth optical communications; high power microwave sensors; and vision systems, compact fiber gyros, and mirror sense and control systems. In addition, it designs and develops body-mounted information systems for technical research in the areas of vergence mismatch, smear reduction in head mounted displays, monocular performance, and dichoptic vision. SA Photonics also works with world renowned experts in human factors, phase-locked loop design, night vision, and wireless communications. SA Photonics operates offices in Los Gatos, California and Lexington, Massachusetts
