Public Profile

Rochester Precision Optics (RPO), previously known as Kodak Optical Imaging Systems, manufactures high-end precision glass, plastic and crystal optical components and assemblies for customers in the defense, commercial, and industrial markets. The products created include optical assemblies, precision molded glass aspheres, high-speed CNC optical fabrication and thin film optical coating for visible and infrared applications such as night vision systems. RPO’s Precision Molded Plastics group is responsible for the design, rapid prototyping, volume manufacturing, thin film coating, bonding, opto-mechanical assembly and testing of customized high performance molded plastic optics for applications including sensing, imaging, scanning and detecting. The firm’s injection-compression molding machines have integrated custom built robots for picking, de-gating and moving parts from the mold machines to the next stage of processing. This allows continuous operation during the molding process and ensures an uninterrupted flow of high volume repeatable optics.
