Now housed in the NJ IT Enterprise development Center, Reactive Metals Inc has the primary objective to develop and commercialize techniques of Mechanical Alloying and Arrested Reactive Milling for synthesis of advanced energetic materials. Research leading to initial development of these techniques and demonstrating the feasibility of synthesizing a wide range of new metal-based energetic materials has been active at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) since 1999. Recently, the interest in materials developed at NJIT increased and increasing need for scaled up production and synthesis development is anticipated. Thus, while the related academic research at NJIT continues, RMI is focused on scaling up and developing the new technology. The company\'s long-term objectives include licensing of the production technology to current DOD contractors and development of new classes of energetic materials.
