Participant in the SBIR program soon after the program assumes a substantial cross-agency presence in 1983, Pepin Associates, Inc. was at that time defined as designing, fabricating, and testing new concepts in materials and structures. At that time, projects includes advanced electric vehicle and automotive structures, orthopedic biomaterials and aircraft structures for engine fragment containment: structural concepts and manufacturing processes then being designed into both new and existing systems. More recently (2020) Pepin Associates is describes as designing and fabricating new materials and structures for applications such as composite airframe components, armor, and turbine fragment containment. Though management has chnaged, business focus remains consistent. Patented technologies developed at Pepin Associates, Inc. now include DiscoTex® and DiscoTape textiles for aerospace composite structure applications, a hybrid structural/ballistic sandwich panel used in armor or turbine engine fragment containment and a hydroxyapatite fiber for orthopedic biomaterials.
