Public Profile

In June 2006, Osteobiologics Inc was acquired by Smith & Nephew Inc. Endoscopy Division. OsteoBiologics, Inc.(OBI) develops and manufactures bioabsorbable tissue-engineering scaffolds (IMMIX(tm)) for the repair and replacement of musculoskeletal tissues. OBI's focus is on the repair and replacement of articular cartilage. OsteoBiologics makes products for bone and cartilage repair in arthroscopy and sports medicine and has had initial bone repair products approved, with soft-tissue repair products still in clinical testing. The firm also are introducing a line of bone graft scaffolds for use in trauma and spinal applications. To complement the development of cartilage repair products, OBI has developed a cartilage diagnostic instrumentation system (ACTAEON(tm)) which determines the degree and scope of articular cartilage degeneration.
