With ties to work ongoing at University of Maine, Orono Spectral Solutions Inc's (OSS) is organized around advancing and commercializing chemical and biological agent detection research inititaed at that institution. The firm's services and products are centered on developing innovative absorbent materials and sampling methods which enable trace level detection of chemical/biological agents in both air and water backgrounds. These chemical sampling products are designed to addess needs within Defense, environmental, and commercial industries. OSS is also actively pursuing commercial opportunities in the areas of air and water quality monitoring to include development of an improved method for detecting petroleum hydrocarbons in industrial waste and produced water
