Oqullo - formerly doing business as OPSUS - is a start-up and spin-out of the (University) Purdue Foundry a longtime established entrepreneurship and commercialization hub assisting in the creating of startups by insitituional associates. In this instance, two Purdue students noted that computer visual algorithms have been shown to improve demographic information - enabling the potential of a âpersonalizedâ experience to shopping, traveling and other consumer activities. At a time when more retailers, airlines and other businesses are collecting data about customers better to meet their needs, Oqullo is tackling effective use of computer visual algorithms and network cameras to obtain demographic information: age, gender, group status and shopping route. Noting that Mall Managers, for example, may be aware of how many people are on their property, but lack information regarding the types of people on their property and how they interact with one another. Oqullo is tackling placing cameras to determine demographic and foot traffic trends: age, gender and how foot-traffic behavior affects usage of property facilities such as outlets or kiosks. Such information, it is suggested could be used to determine what other services might be developed to improve the customer experience.
