With the principal of the firm now relocated from Cmbridge MA but having been variously SBIR involved over many years, OptiCOMP Networks is currently addressing epitaxial layer transfer and lift-off of III-V solar cell from Ge or GaAs wafer to polymeric permanent carrier substrate to fabricate high efficiency foldable and rollable modules for space and terrestrial applications. Epitaxial lift-off has the potential to reduce the costs of fabrication of high efficiency solar cell by 30% due to savings in materials through the re-use of the Ge or GaAs wafer to regrow another epitaxial layer.
