Public Profile
Already exceeding the size-requirements for SBIR eligiblity - fewer than 500 employees - Omada Health has taken an early focus on digital behavioral medicine - an innovative approach to tackling the growing epidemic of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. The company is structured around creating online behavior-change programs that address the growing epidemic of chronic disease -- bridging the gap between modern digital technology and proven traditional support groups and therapies, which have mostly been done as face-to-face treatments. Omadaâs flagship treatment - Prevent - is a 16-week web-based program based on guidelines published by the CDC's National Diabetes Prevention Program (NDPP) shown in a clinical trial to help people lose weight and positively impact the risk factors that contribute to type 2 diabetes and heart disease. Participants join small online groups of their peers, receive coaching from health professionals and track their progress using a pedometer and wireless scale that are supplied with the goal being to get people to lose weight and to change their behaviors. Omada addresses ways to prevent hyper-tension, high cholesterol, smoking cessation and lower back pain. Being able to provide clinical proof that its programs work as effectively as traditional in-person therapies, Omada Health programs are covered by healthcare providers including Blue Shield Louisiana, Kaiser Permanente, and Stanford Hospita
