OCT Medical Imaging is working on technology that can record more detailed images than its predecessors for tissues near any surface of the body. The technology, called optical coherence tomography, or OCT, uses a powerful light beam that shines 2 to 3 millimeters (one-tenth of an inch) into most body tissues. Sophisticated computer analysis of the reflected light creates images that are detailed enough to reveal tiny cancers or tissue structures that occur near the surface of the skin, eye, gastrointestinal tract or larynx. OCT Medical's first objective for the new medical diagnostic system is to check for cancers of the larynx and gastrointestinal tract
