With firm's founder associated to Michigan State University, Nusenics is torganzied around development and commercialization of fiber-optic sensor systems offering quality performance andnew capabilities. Leveraging inherent advantage of of fiber-optic sensors - including immunity to electromagnetic interference, remote sensing, resistance to harsh environment, chemical inertness, small size, and light weight - principals of the firm work closely with customers to provide sensor solutions and develop products with tailored performance parameters that meet the specific needs of our customers. The company is commercializing high-speed fiber-optic temperature sensors for oceanographic and meteorological applications and high-sensitivity fiber-optic bolometers for measurement of plasma radiation in magnetic confinement fusion devices. Underlying technologies were developed by firm's founders from years of research at University of Nebraska-Lincoln and more rceently MSU. Firm's founders have also collaborated with colleagues from US Naval Research Lab, Oak Ridge National Lab, University of Tennessee at Knoxville with funding from Department of Energy and Office of Naval Research.
