In January 2004, the drug testing component of Northwest Toxicology was acquired by LabOne (KS). Northwest Toxicology operates two divisions competing in two distinct markets. The Tandem Labs division operates in the market that supports pharmaceutical companies in their bioanalytical research and development activities. The Northwest Toxicology division participates in the forensic employment drug testing market. Northwest Toxicology is a privately held SAMHSA-certified laboratory offereing drug of abuse and adulterant testing. The combination of LabOne and Northwest Toxicology resulted in an extensive product offering, including testing for drugs of abuse in urine, oral fluid and hair, specimen validity testing, esoteric drug testing, and medical professional drug testing.
