NextWatt LLC is working to advance technologies in power/energy encompassing multiple focus areas: a) Advanced controls, stability, and optimization ranging from standalone platforms to spatio-temporally distributed systems and networks; b) High-frequency-link power-conversion systems that yield compact, cost-effective, reliable, and efficient systems by eliminating and/or minimizing line transformers, dc-link capacitors, and filters; c) Photonically controlled power semiconductor devices that yield novel and robust ways of controlling power flow in switching power electronics systems (e.g. high-voltage or ultra-high-frequency systems); and d) wide-bandgap (e.g., GaN or SiC) device based control, device, and electronics.
