NexGen Arrays has developed the Single Partice Interferometric Reflectance Imaging Sensor (SP-IRIS), a virus diagnostic platform based on the detection of single nanoparticles. The company's technology has demonstrated single virus and single molecule (proteins and nucleic acids) detection at clinical levels and is being developed for application to a Viral Hemmorhagic Fever panel including Ebola, Lassa, and Marburg. The SP-IRIS platform allows for detection of multiple targets on a single substrate, label-free detection, direct detection from complex fluids, and single-particle detection of small molecules. NexGen emphasizes the importance of rapid, multiplexed diagnostics that can be used by novice users in order to provide faster treatment in time-sensitive treatment scenerios.
