Nautilus Biosciences was co-founded by faculty members of Florida Atlantic University and local entrepreneurs in Florida. The focus was to developo new production methods of marine pharmaceuticals. In June 2007 the firm moved to Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, where it is based out of the University of Prince Edward Island's Duffy Research Centre. With more htan 30 research staff, the company utilizews a close collaboration with the research lab of founder Russell Greig Kerr at the University of Prince Edward Island. In 2018. Nautilus Biosceinces was acquired by Croda International PLC, a leader in the development of natural based specialty chemicals sold to a variety of industries. Nautilus retains its focus on microbial naturla product discovery for human and animal health applications.
