Motion Control Inc, a subsidiary of Fillauer Companies Inc since 1997, was originally spun out of the University of Utahâs Center for Engineering for the development and commercialization of advanced prosthetics products. This partnership enabled developement the Utah Artificial Arm for elbow, hand and wrist amputees combining technology, performance and appearance into one of the most used myoelectric prosthesis technology for above elbow amputees. The Utah ProControl system offers the same sensitive, proportional control for below elbow amputees. Microprocessor technology was incorporated into the Utah Arm, allowing separate inputs, simultaneous control and a modern computer interface, simplifying elbow and hand controls. Many veterans of the Iraqi war have been fitted with the Utah Arm at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, and Brooke Army Medical Center. Motion Control also manufactures the Myolab EMG Tester, a portable and convenient fitting tool for testing and training patients being fitted with a myoelectric prosthesis.
