With facilities in Woburn, MA and Albany, NY, Magnolia Solar is structured around development and production of low cost, high efficiency, thin film solar modules. Originally founded in 2008 to develop and commercialize high performance, flexible thin-film solar cell technologies that employ nanostructured materials and designs, the expectation was that higher current and higher voltage outputs could be achieved from thin-film solar cells that combine Magnoliaâs exclusive material structures with advanced optical coatings. With several patents, having the ability to capture a larger part of the solar spectrum enabled high efficiency solar cells, and by incorporating a unique, nanostructure-based antireflection coating technology further yo increase solar cell efficiency, the effort was to reduce the cost per watt.
