Acquired by GE Medical Systems, Lunar Raditation produces electromechanical medical instruments (i.e., bone densitometers ans scanners for bone research and clinical diagnosis of osteoporosis). The company develops and sells bone densitometers, X-ray or ultrasound scanning machines that measure bone density as a way of diagnosing osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases. The DPX-IQ, Lunar's flagship product, uses X-rays to measure bone density of various regions, while its Achilles ultrasound device measures bone density through the heel. Other products include scanners that diagnose injuries to knees, wrists, and other extremities. Lunar is the exclusive US distributor of the Artoscan Extremity Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner, made by Italian medical device company ESAOTE Biomedica. Founder Richard Mazess owns 33% of the company.
