The Design-Controlled Automated Fabrication (DESCAF) process (Rapid prototyping) was invented by Dr. Efrem V. Fudim in 1986. He then organized and founded Light Sculpting, Inc., in Milwaukee, WI. This process builds prototypes a layer at a time by exposing liquid polymer to ultraviolet light through a photomask. An entire layer is solidified simultaneously.
