Coming out of a collaboration between Boston University and Tulane, Levisonics Inc. is organized around the development of new techniques for blood coagulation analysis and fluid rheological measurement: a novel method for assessment of whole blood or blood plasma coagulation, The firms proprietary technology platform is acoustic tweezing rheometry, a unique containerless approach for fluid analysis that uses only one drop of fluid sample per test: a drop-of-blood point-of-care coagulation analyzer capable of providing comprehensive diagnostic information about bleeding / thrombotic risks. The advantages of small sample size, non-contact, and rapid measurement make the technology especially useful for real-time monitoring of blood coagulation in the acutely unwell, trauma patients, those having undergone major surgery, and patients with coagulation disorders.
