Spun out of University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) , Leaptran is a technology offering innovative and proactive energy and wellness management systems (EWMS) for buildings including residential, commercial/industrial buildings, and communities using sensing devices, energy optimization, machine learning, battery energy storage, and behavior analysis. The firm has two energy management products: Leapsmart™: a standalone energy management system for residential and small commercial buildings that connects all internet of things (IoT) devices, including thermostats, water heater, electric vehicles, and photovoltaic (not just another smart thermostat) and Qmind™: a powerful energy management system for large commercial/industrial buildings and smart grid/micro-grid communities. The latter integrates occupant behavior, dynamic load profile, energy generation (i.e., fuel cell, solar power, and wind turbine) forecasting, and battery energy storage into the system. The energy management system is intelligent and proactive to optimize energy savings and allow facility managers to visualize building performance on demand.
