In October 2004, Carl Zeiss Meditec, the German provider of eye care solutions, signed a definitive agreement to acquire Laser Diagnostic Technologies (LDT), a developer of medical devices specializing in the diagnosis of eye diseases. Laser Diagnostic Technologies Inc produces topographic laser scanners for medical use. The firm manufacture diagnostic scanning laser ophthalmoscopes for imaging and measuring the topography of the retina, thickness of the nerve fiber layer and flow of blood through subretinal tissue layers of the human eye. Systems include scanning laser, image processing, display and analysis software.
