JoyLabz is the company behind circuit-board music kit MaKey MaKeyfamous for its promo video--in which a home inventor turns bananas and a flight of stairs into makeshift keyboardsclinched 2,000% of its Kickstarter goal in 2012. Almost entirely sold online, in 2014, Museum of Modern Art acquired MaKey MaKey for its permanent collection. The premise from which the company operates is that everyone is creative, inventive, and imaginative given the tools, opportunity and access. The focus of the firm therefore is to make easy-to-use invention kits. Describing themselves as 'inspired by the Maker Movement", the firm objective is to help people start to think of themselves as Makers and agents of change. With that mindset, Joylabs believes people (kids?) know they can change the world.
