Public Profile
In April 2010, Imago Scientific Instruments Corporation was acquired by Ametek of Pennsylvania. Imago Scientific Instruments specializes in atom probe microscopy and related technologies. Imago's innovative three-dimensional atom probe, the Local Electrode Atom Probe or LEAP(tm), will bring the atom probe's unique atomic-scale analytical capabilities to scientists and engineers in industry, government, and academe. Imago's LEAP microscope provides information about the atomic-scale features of materials that were previously very difficult or even impossible to obtain. Unlike traditional microscopes that "zoom in" to see items at the microscopic level, Imago's microscope begins at the atomic-scale and "zooms out." This "atom by atom" analysis provides unique and potentially critical information for research institutes and semiconductor and data storage companies. In April 2006, the firm acquired UK based Oxford nanoScience.
