Hemogenesis LLC was in receipt of an NIH SBIR Phase I but when the President moved to ThromboVision in Houston TX, he took the project with him and the Phase II conversion occured inthat firm. Hemogenesis President and project PI, Don B Olsen, is a leading figure in the field of bionics. while working at the Utah Artificial Heart Institute, Dr. Olsen's greatest contribution and global achievement was to introduce the left lateral thoracotomy approach, and to standardize the entire surgical procedure in implanting blood pumps in calves/sheep. All groups, both Foreign and domestic, doing research on both ventricular assist devices (VADs) and total artificial hearts (TAHs) adopted his demonstrated left lateral surgical approach and standardized procedures
