Very active in the SBIR space from the first years of government wide expansion of the porgram in 2003-4, Gumbs Associates, Inc. was restructured to become RWG Corporation - an intellectual property development company with focus on selling or licensing new technologies, having previously been a research and development firm specializing in the areas of chemicals, polymers, coatings and adhesives. Over the period of firm's operations, there were developed dental and medical polymers; heat resistant plastics; coatings and adhesives; encapsulants for silicon solar cells; thin film laminates for solar energy applications; thermoplastic composites for primary structures; and conductive polymers for radar and thermal signature. In recent years the focus has been on developing the science of integrated medicinal chemistry with emphasis on disease prevention using food as medicine. Founder President of the firm is now chair of the Beatrice Thomas Gumbs Foundation, Inc focused to demonstrating that type II diabetes can be reversed in Anguilla and St. Martin, where the incidence of this disease has reached epidemic levels (14% of the adult population). This goal is clearly important because of global impact.
