Soon after the GSS Group was founded to provide horticultural consulting and related services, management took on the ambitious pilot project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to clean up an area compound to provide local population with space to grow food. Within a few weeks the compound was remoleded to fit a garden, a greenhouse, and a freshly landscaped yard. Subsequently other existing and aspiring farmers have been assisted towards improving their production potential with a reasonable budget. With a particular interest in sustainable food production - reducing waste and lowering the carbon footprint - a GSS focus has been on environmental responsibility with a particular interest on hydroponic food production. The firm is developing hydroponic systems that can be integrated with pre-existing structures: a hydroponic product that is simple, efficient, and can be easily installed.
