Specializing in novel systems for measurement of large strain, Globe Biomedical is developing novel hardware and mobile app technologies for a number of applications, including medical diagnostics, government, and military systems. Organized around bringing practical, innovative solutions to clients, the firm's pipeline includes optical non-contact wearable systems and continuous implantable sensors for monitoring intraocular pressure (IOP), kiosk-type and at-home image-based IOP monitors, discrete resistor strain sensors for monitoring mechanical systems, and mobile app technologies for real-time access and data management of medical and mechanical monitoring systems. Additionally, the firm's ocular health monitoring technologies - the subject of their NSF SBIR Award - provides new clinical diagnostic metrics for tracking glaucoma progression: scleral strain and ocular stiffness.
