Anchored in the notion of enabling reduction of chemical usage both around the home and on the farm, Global Neighbor began operations in the Sustainability Incubator that is part of Central State University. The firm's products offer an environmentally friendly approach to combating herbicide-resistant weed developing weed control solutions using directed energy (light) instead of chemicals. The firm's first commercial product was a handheld DE tool - renamed the Weederase: product - now licensed to Viatek Consumer Products Group and being sold in many online and catalog retailers. As the firm improved their DE technology for the lawn and garden market, the firm broadened focus to include farmers and the difficulties faced with herbicide-resistant weeds, weed-control labor costs, and glyphosate environmental concerns. GNI is now focused on addressing and mitigating these critical challenges.
