Gi Stimulation, Inc. holds exclusive rights to the intellectual property underlying the use of multi-point gastro-intestinal pacing through U.S. Patent 5.690,691 - "Gastrointestinal pacemaker having phased multi-point stimulation," dated November 25, 1997. The Company's founders were all members of the team that developed this intellectual property at the University of Virginia, and are named inventors on the patent. Gi Stimulation, Inc. exclusively licensed the patent from the UVa Patent Foundation in 1999
