g8four (pronounced âGate Fourâ) is a research-based Learning Design Firm providing targeted educational services to institutions and individuals seeking to support the cognitive, psychological, social, and ethical development of the mind. The firm provides the tools by which individuals can reach their full potential. To this end, g8four personnel serve as researchers, learning designers, experience creators, and consultants. As researchers, g8four engages in multiple research, product development and pilot projects: OASIS (Online Application to Support Inquiry-based Science), ICAC (Integrating Computing Across the Curriculum) and m3, (Multi-tiered Mentoring Model). Research and development is funded by a Small Business Innovation Research grant through the Institute of Educational Sciences, the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Discovery Research K-12 program and NSF's Broadening Participation in Computing Program.
As learning designers and experience creators, g8four creates and conducts custom learning experiences for corporate sponsors, organizations, and institutions who want to engage participants in a rich, memorable and fun educational experience. One such customizable experience is ChangeLab. Others include workshops and professional development programs. Clients include McWane Science Center and Regions Bank.
As consultants, g8four provides a number of targeted educational services for individuals and institutions. Clients include One Laptop Per Child (OLPC), for whom g8four created and led workshops for international ministers of education and served as project lead for its largest deployment of XOs in the U.S. in Birmingham, Alabam
