Spun out of research at the MIT Media Lab, EyeNetra Inc. develops technology that enables a smartphone-powered refraction, auto-refractor, lensometer, and phoropter - effectively allowing mobile vision testing. Using a series of simple game-like interactions in a Virtual Reality headset, the company's NETRA enables anyone anywhere to collect their own refractive measurements. The technology can measure farsightedness (hyperopia), nearsightedness (myopia), misshaped eye (astigmatism), and pupillary distance. The company also offers Blink vision testing service via its own optometrists who travel to meet customers at their convenience. EyeNetra plans to be at the forefront of the Mobile Health (mHealth) revolution by creating a suite of mobile eye diagnostics that integrate to a cloud-based platform that brokers new business between patients and providers and vendors (eg hospitals, doctors, eyeglass stores, pharmaceuticals, and more).
