ExoTerra Resource LLC was formed with the vision of making space access affordable to everyone through the use of gravity reducing infrastructures. Long term, the company hopes to become a leading space utility company, providing analogs to terrestrial power, fuel, transportation, housing, and waste management services. In order to make this vision a reality, ExoTerra is working on a variety of projects. The first, SolRider, is a microsatellite that uses solar electric propulsion to reduce the cost of interplanetary exploration from $100M - $1B to a much more affordable 5M - $25M. This will not only allow space agencies to be able to visit more places or perform missions with networks of satellites, but now universities can perform their own research; private individuals can experience the thrill of their own space mission; and projects can be funded using crowd-sourcing technologies. Using SolRider, universities can send student developed payloads to other planets or asteroids, providing unique, hands-on learning opportunities and the freedom to choose their own research objectives. The company is working to develop systems to extract, refine and deliver lunar water to serve as a propellant for the cis-lunar system.
