Originally called Precision Surface Science LLC at the time of Phase I SBIR Award from NSF, the firm is renamed Enlighten Coatings. Launched by a newly minted PhD from the University of Akron, the firm is structured around development of wear and corrosion resistant engineered surfaces for lightweight metals with a particular emphasis on use of such materials in challanging environments. An arena of early focus is the commercialization of a patent-pending coating for titanium surfaces used in the medical, automotive, and chemical processing industries.
