Public Profile

Sometime in early 2007, Energen Inc ceased operations. Energen, Inc. is a highly innovative, small firm that has developed extensive, unique intellectual property and products based on "smart" materials technology. The company has delivered customized, state-of-the-art hardware, electronics and control software to “mission” agencies of the Federal Government and a growing list of industrial clients for precision motion, vibration, fluid, and temperature control applications. Energen has created considerable intellectual property, has assembled a high-profile technical team of recognized expertise, built a reputation for quality, reliable work and has cultivated an enviable customer list spanning scientific establishments, industry and numerous US and foreign scientific agencies. Energen’s primary technical accomplishment to date has been the development of KelvinAll, the only smart material with capabilities effective from absolute zero to well above room temperature. This important temperature-use versatility enables precise positioning and motion control in extreme environments not previously possible. Combined with the firm's proprietary software and real-time controls, Energen has delivered twenty five successful KelvinAll-powered prototype products to our customers. Energen’s scientists and engineers hold numerous patents and have authored over one hundred peer-reviewed papers. Energen personnel are frequently invited to make scientific presentations and lead discussions based on their work at international conferences. The company has cultivated collaborative relationships with academia and many Federally-funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDC) such as Ames Laboratory, the Naval Surface Warfare Center, and the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory. Active in the federal SBIR program, Energen has been profitable for the past three years and is currently debt-free. The firm is ISO 9000-2000 compliant. Energen’s “smart” materials technology has broad commercial potential in scientific, industrial and consumer markets. In the aerospace industry, their high force, compact size will revolutionize flight controls for vehicles from UAVs to large commercial jets. Precision actuation will improve the sensitivity of remote optical/IR sensors used for chemical and biological analysis and detection. Consumer applications include extremely compact, imbedded sound systems for audio and home theatre. In the automotive/transportation industry, Energen’s actuators will improve passenger comfort through active vibration control and improve efficiency and reduce pollutants from internal combustion engines. Energen seeks strategic partners actively engaged in these markets who are looking to differentiate themselves through the application of disruptive technology to deliver a quantum leap in performance to
