EMC Technology patented stripline - a 3mm x 4mm termination that monitored power conditions and communicated their status to other electronic devices. Early used on the Apollo mission, EMC reworked standard issue parts to meet specific, often impossible applications on a regular basis, eventually making a mark on the rf and microwaveworld. For example, the same solderless construction made stripline pills good to 350 degrees and eliminated flux also lived in EMCâs flange loads. This early, patented product had the added advantage of aluminum housing, a linear material with no magnetic properties that kept output linear and prevented intermodulation distortion, also inexpensive. More recently, the firm has developed Thermopads - totally passive attenuators with power dissipation that varies with temperature. And SmartLoads, power sensing terminations for straight-line linear performance over a wide dynamic range without the addition of external components.
