Formerly operating as a subsidiary of Amoco Corporation, in 1995, ECOVA Corporation went out of business. ECOVA had been a hazardous waste management firm specializing in the development of site-specific treatment methods including bioremediation, soil washing, and air stripping. The firm also owned a portable infrared incineration system that eliminated dioxins and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from contaminated soil and other hazardous wastes and an in situ system for the biodegradation of trichloroethylene (TCE) in groundwater.
