Dated January 11, 2024, it was announced that Dextrous Robotics had closed up shop. With some $1.25M. from NSF, Dextrous Robotics had been structured around development of robotics solutions for AI-enabled warehouse robots. The firm's robots featured two precision arms and custom AI brains rerported to have the ability to move objects of different shapes and sizes of up to 88 pounds at very fast speeds. The solution was reoirted as having advantages over suction methods as it was reported as not tearing heavy or unbalanced boxes, able move a wider array of sizes and shapes, was faster and more precise, worked in all temperatures, and could handle porous materials such as cloth. The robot had beeninsicaed as capable of loading and unloading pallets and containers over 4x faster than humans while also having the ability to identify if something is out of place and alert humans.
