Spun out of technology licensed from Virginia Tech and the University of Virginia, Cytorecovery Inc, is structured around developing microfluidic technology to enable cell biologists and other life science researchers to sort, enrich, and recover cell subpopulations from biological samples. Focused on separating different kinds of cancer cells found in tumors -- such as cancer stem cells (CSCs) that can be responsible for cancer recurrence - the developing technology offers a unique ability to recover populations of specific cells based on their biophysical properties in a sterile environment without impacting the cells. The firm's two primary products are an electronics generator that is a power amplifier capable of producing low and high frequency sinusoidal waveforms as well as a chip interfacing system that provides a plug and play system for use with variety of cell sorting and microfluidic devices.
