CarboNix LLC is an early stage, University of South Carolina-based startup commercializing technology licensed from the South Carolina Research Foundation involving removal of dust mites. The technology broadly pertains to use of cleaning and medical sterilization processes using a non-toxic, environmentally friendly sterilization technique that works at room temperature and without harsh chemicals. The company is focused on developing and commercializing a proprietary process whereby certain allergy causing substances can be denatured or deactivated. Laboratory results show that 80%-90% of offensive proteins can be denatured with a single sterilization/cleaning.
