Capacitech Energy, LLC (Capacitech) was launched to spin out Cable-Based-Capcitor (CBC) technology from the University of Central Florida. The CBC is a new type of Capacitor which is built on the surface of a copper wire. This copper wire can be cut at different lengths to control its performance (capacitance). By doing this, the capacitor-wire technology can mimic and replace through-hole-leaded capacitors currently being used by electronics manufacturing. This enables electronics manufacturing companies to buy one spool of the wire instead of a variety of different capacitors which will reduce inventory costs and simplifies the process of ordering/managing capacitors. The CBC unique form factor is thin, tough, and flexible and provides many new advantages for electronic distributors, designers, and manufacturers. By using less space on the PCB, the CBC can increase the speed of manufacturing and inspection processes. The CBC can also connect on different ends of the PCB if needed.
