In November 2000, Burleigh Instruments Inc was acquired by Exfo Electro-Optical Engineering Inc (Canadian firm). The firm manufactures laser and optic-related products including precision piezoelectric-based motion control systems used for submicron linear positioning; laser wavelength measurement and spectral analysis; routine high performance surface imaging and measurement based on surface probe microscope scanning tunneling; Fabry-Perot interferometer; and atomic force microscopes. These products are generally sold to universities, the government and to research and scientific facilities.
