BST Systems Inc designs, develops, manufactures and tests mission critical products, including high-energy alkaline electrochemical cells, batteries and supported electronic equipment, for military and commercial applications. BST is currently specializing in the manufacture of rechargeable silver-zinc cells and batteries, however the firm is expanding the company's focus to include other battery chemistries, including lithium ion, as well as various associated products. Silver-zinc technology is used in a variety of applications in markets where battery weight, volume and safety are critical, from manned and unmanned underwater submersibles to providing the main portable power source for Astronaut life support during spacewalks and interplanetary missions like the Mars Pathfinder Program. In addition, BST Systems products are used to power small submarines, telecommunication equipment, underwater/airborne or aerospace targets & decoys. The combination of high gravimetric and volumetric energy density, along with its long and storied success in multiples of vehicles and applications, make silver-zinc an extremely attractive option for a safe, reliable compact power source in launch vehicle applications.
