Brooks Rand ir organized around environmental research and development. In the early years, the firm focused iresearch efforts on developing technologies for used-oil recycling and more environmentally-friendly papermaking processes.Later the firms began developing advanced technologies for mercury analysis and began offering these technologies to clients and customers, including the worldâs first commercially available mercury analyzer based on atomic fluorescence, and associated analytical services. Since then, the firm has developed new technologies to including processes and instrumentation for measuring mercury in coal-fired power plant flue gas and for rapid-response field screening of mercury contamination. The firm also extended its R&D efforts in the environmental analytical realm beyond mercury to develop improved procedures for arsenic and selenium analysis and speciation. Today, Brooks Rand Labs continues to develop new and innovative technologies for measuring trace metals in the environment with a constant focus on improving one or more of the following: Lower detection limits; More precise and accurate measurements; Measurement of various metallic compounds and valence states of metals, or âspeciationâ, Measuring metals and metal species in complex matr
