Structured around creating the next generation of solar power electronics in collabortion with Uiversity of Colorado Boulder, BREK Electronics has redesigned the Solar String Inverter using novel composite architecture optimized for Silicon Carbide (SiC) components. Effectively enabling 2x the power in a package that can still be manually installed, without heavy machinery, Silicon Carbide can withstand higher temperatures and voltages than silicon, making it ideal for power electronics. Having a 300X better thermal conductivity compared to traditional silicon, SiC use lowers the operating temperatures leading to fewer failures. Lab tests already undertaken showed a 10X improvement in the mean time to failure vs. conventional silicon. Silicon Carbide efficiency includes being able to withstand higher temperatures and preserve more energy than silicon and irts use could also reduce the cost of installing solar inverters. Offering 300X better at thermal conductivity vs traditional silicon, use of Silicon Carbide lowers the operating temperatures which lead to fewer failures. Lab tests showed a 10X improvement in the mean time to failure vs conventional silicon.
