Public Profile

Blue Planet Strategies, LLC (BPS) was founded to provide mining and metal processing companies tools to extract new profits from old waste. The firm’s DEMET technology is able to cost-effectively recover metals and key residuals from target processing waste streams. DEMET was originally designed to target profitable mitigation of Acid Rock Drainage (ARD) at abandoned mine sites. It uses a proprietary electrolytic process to cost effectively remove/reclaim target metals, separate them from input/waste streams, and recover them for marketable products. This process converts the costly disposal of precipitated contaminants (hazardous sludge) into new revenues. DEMET technology is able to unlock new production and extend mine productivity while using a greener low-energy process that results in less CO2 generation. DEMET was designed for practical and superior performance with very dilute streams, providing new possibilities for economical production from plentiful sub-economic sulfide ores and tailings. While there is currently a 1/3 of the world’s copper ore that is currently economically unusable, BPS enables lower energy and lower-cost processing of these abundant un-utilized marginal ores such as copper.
