The Blindsight Corporation is a research and development firm building software and assistive devices for blind and visually impaired persons that apply the latest techniques from machine vision research.Projects under development include: a Smart Telescope device that finds and locks onto targets such as text and faces, then displays enhanced, superresolved images of these in a display format suited to low-vision persons; a hand-held Sign Finder that finds and reads informational signs aloud, allowing blind persons to navigate more independently in unfamiliar places, both outdoors and indoors; and a hand-held Display Reader that reads consumer-electronic device displays aloud, allowing blind persons to operate ovens, thermostats, radios, telephones, and many other everyday devices that have LED or LCD displays
