With strong ties to the University of Idaho, BioCement⢠Technologies, Inc., is developing a technology initially worked on at the University by one of the now principals of the firm. Thebasis of the firm's operations is to engineer soils by adding a nutrient rich solution,which is consumed by indigenous soil bacteria. The byproduct of the nutrient solution combines with calcium into a substance which holds soil particles together and strengthens the soil. The result is a product being called BioCement⢠that can be used to fix roads, reduce dust pollution, mitigate liquefaction, stabilize weak soils and reduce the mobility of heavy metals in soil from leaching into your drinking wat
