Public Profile

In the Summer 2008, it was announced that Uluru - a firm in the controlled-release drug delivery for wound, burn, and plastic surgery care business - acquired private wound healing company Bio Med Sciences. Bio Med Sciences, Inc. had been inths field of developing advanced materials for biomedical applications. The Company's patented technology related to a blend of polydimethylsiloxane (silicone) and polytetrafluoroethylene unusual physical and chemical properties – particularly when formed into thin membranes. The Silon-IPN technology enables the production of very thin and soft silicone sheeting without the loss of strength and durability associated with conventional methods. By carefully engineering Silon's formulation and process conditions, a wide variety of properties can be achieved. Bio Med successfully developed its IPN technology into the Silon family of woundcare and scar management products. The product line consists of a range of medical devices based upon the Company’s proprietary technology with over 16 issued patents. Silon products are sold into the burn treatment, plastic surgery, dermatology, long-term care and rehabilitation market
