Coming out of the AM3 Lab Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Arkansas, AMBOTS technology is usefully understood as a swarm 3D printing and assembly. AMBOTS: Autonomous Mobile roBOTS and Advanced Manufacturing roBOTS. The focus of the effort is on automating manufacturing with a swarm of smart and autonomous mobile robots creating everyday products to include houses and infrastructures. The underpinning concept is that of emulating how a swarm of bees or wasps work together to build their nests, the swarm of smart mobile robots could be work together on demand to print and assemble products based on digital models. Each robot could be equipped with different printing capabilities e.g., printing different materials with different printing resolution - but coordinated by software to accomplish the printing job(s) together
